“Open Science, Open Innovation, Open to the World.”
Commissioner Moedas' statement emphasizes the importance and potential of open of science for Europe and globally.
Following on from the European Commission’s continuing support of the global Research Data Alliance, Funding Agencies are seeking to support networking and individual projects focused on promoting and facilitating open data sharing and exchange across Europe and beyond.
Current and potential funders and other experts in data creation, curation and re-use, are invited to this high level policy meeting to discuss and address issues regarding how research data in general and the RDA activities in particular are and should be funded in the future to ensure a convergent and coherent approach. How should this process be coordinated? How will the funders with different goals and agenda be able to support a wide range of initiatives in the broad research landscape? The aim is to avoid that the impact of European initiatives be diluted on the global level, and make sure the objectives are synchronised and build upon previous achievements.
The aim of the meeting is to build consensus on a way forward that, as much as possible, will maintain Europe as a driver in this rapidly developing global environment.
